WELCOME to the Wildgoose group’s webpages, the home of electrochemical–frustrated Lewis pairs! Here you can find out more about the group and the research that we do within the Energy & Materials Laboratory and the School of Chemistry at the University of East Anglia.

Our interests are two-fold: first we synthesise organometallic / inorganic complexes and then we study their electrochemical properties. Our aim is to drive catalytic reactions using clean, electrical energy with applications in both “green synthesis” and clean energy production and storage.

All members of the group can gain experience in both air/moisture sensitive synthesis, spectroscopic and spectrometric molecular characterisation methods (multinuclear NMR, UV-vis/IR, MS, EA, XPS etc), crystallographic structure elucidation, nanomaterials characterisation and quantitative electrochemical methods (cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry/coulometry & microelectrode studies etc) including digital simulation and computer-aided analysis of electrochemical data.


From inception to application I firmly believe in research across boundaries, and I hope that whatever your scientific background you will discover something within the group’s research areas to interest you.
